Eight years and three months after the forced disappearance of the 43 normal school students from Ayotzinapa in the state of Guerrero, the government does not give due interest despite being a state crime, indicated parents and relatives of the victims. Interviewed in the context of the march for the 99th month of the disappearance of the normalistas, Melitón Ortega reiterated that the crime has not yet been clarified and there is no progress in the investigations.

Last August it was announced that the Ayotzinapa case was a State crime with a cover-up at the highest level and that eight years after the events there are no indications to confirm that the 43 disappeared normalistas are alive. These were the preliminary conclusions of the report of the Commission for Truth and access to justice in the Ayotzinapa case, which was presented four months ago in the National Palace, first to the families, in the presence of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, and later before public opinion.

In this regard, Melitón Ortega, a member of the Parents’ Committee, explained that in recent months they have not had meetings with federal authorities. The last one was on September 26 and since then we have not been summoned to meet again. The federal government does not give due interest to the case, despite the fact that it insists that it was a State crime and that, according to its commitment and desire to clarify the issue. However, in fact, it is the opposite, that is the concern, therefore, we will continue in the streets demanding justice.

He reiterated that there have been no approaches with the Undersecretary for Human Rights of the Ministry of the Interior, Alejandro Encinas. The commitment to establish the monthly work table with the federal Executive and other authorities was left, but it has not been given. Hopefully they do not forget the commitment to maintain communication permanently.

The relatives of the 43 disappeared normalistas marched from the Glorieta de Peralvillo to the Basilica of Guadalupe as part of the 99 Global Action for Ayotzinapa. Before entering the church, they passed the list of the absent students.

Bishop emeritus Raúl Vera celebrated a mass at the main altar of the Guadalupano atrium, where he stated that lies and impunity harm our country, there is no other way than the truth.

He pointed out that the Virgin of Guadalupe provides help, protection and shelter to all those who ask for intercession for them. She is here for you, but in a special way for those who suffer, suffer the consequences of authorities, not only inept, but perverse, who have hidden the truth about this matter..

Raúl Vera invited three mothers to the altar, who pleaded with the Virgin of Guadalupe for their disappeared children. During his homily, the bishop emeritus pointed out that those who are suffering for the search for the truth are the parents and relatives of the 43 normalistas. You have to look for the truth of all things, to which the government has to respond…, what a shame to find weak people among the authorities who lower their hands added.
