The Government declared the entire tourism sector nationwide in an emergency and ordered specific measures to deal with the crisis generated as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. COVID-19.
The Supreme Decree No. 004-2022-Mincetur published in the extraordinary edition of the legal regulations bulletin of El Peruano details that the emergency declaration of the tourism sector until December 31, 2022.
The text bears the signatures of the President of the Republic, Pedro Castillo, as well as the Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism, Roberto Sánchez.
The decree indicates that the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur) must publish the Emergency Plan for the sector within 15 business days from this Saturday.
The objective of this plan will be to establish sectoral measures to deal with the serious crisis that tourist activities are going through as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic and to propose regulations before the corresponding authorities.
The lines of action will be: financial rescue measures, economic support measures, tourism facilitation measures, measures to encourage investment in tourism and measures for tourism promotion.
Mincetur itself will be responsible for monitoring and evaluating the measures dictated in its emergency plan with the supervision of the Executive Board for the Development of the Tourism Sector created by ministerial resolution 307-2018-EF/10 and its respective modifications.
