In the last hours, Francisco Camargo Salas, director of Public Employment of the Administrative Department of the Public Function, announced that the Government will make a request to formalize, through the Ministry of Labor, 910 thousand contractors.

“In Colombia we are 1 million 351 thousand public servants, of which 55% of the State labor force are teachers and military. According to the latest study, there are 910,000 contractors and that is where our biggest bet is: formalizing the public sector and this dynamic of change invites us to think about safety and health at Work.”, assured the official.
The announcement was made at an event of the National Commission for Safety and Health at Work in the Public Sector. There, Diana Carolina Galindo, director of Occupational Risks of the Ministry of Labor, said that another of the objectives of the Ministry is promote safe and trusting environments that protect mental health both public servants and contractors.

For his part, Germán Ponce Bravo, director of the Technical Chamber of Occupational Risks of Fasecolda, said that the work with the public sector has a special requirement: “Solve the problems of citizens, where as of June 2022 there are 7,391 companies with activities in the public administration and defense sector, which represents 0.7% of the total number of companies affiliated with the occupational health and safety system.”
Along with this, the event made known the Decalogue of Happiness for public servants and special recognition was made to the entities that make up the National Commission for Safety and Health at Work in the Public Sector for the work carried out in the pandemic and in this 2022.
