Government appoints Juan Carlos Liendo as new director of DINI

The Presidency of the Council of Ministers (PCM) appointed Juan Carlos Liendo O’connor as Director of the National Intelligence Directorate (DINI) through thepublished today, Sunday December 18, in the newspaper El Peruano.

In this way, Liendo will take over from Retired General Wilson Barrantes, at the beginning of this month. President Dina Boluarte opted to remove Barrantes, who was questioned about his affinity with Movadef leaders and his closeness to Antauro Humala.

In addition, Barrantes denounced, in 2021, that on one occasion the former Secretary General of the Government Palace, Bruno Pacheco, asked him for S/200,000 to fill the position of director of DINI.

The new director of DINI also worked as an advisor to the Intelligence Commission of the Congress of the Republic, which is chaired by José Cueto (Popular Renewal).
