Accompanied by the Minister of Defense, Maya Fernández, the third woman to head this portfolio, President Gabriel Boric arrived at the ellipse of Parque O’Higgins, in Santiago, aboard the traditional Ford Galaxie car, to start a new Parade Military. This is the first parade in honor of the “Glories of the Army” led by the current administration.
According to the commander in chief of the military institution, General Javier Iturriaga, more than 8,000 members of the Chilean Navy, Air Force and Army, in addition to Carabineros and the Investigative Police, will parade this September 19.
The ceremony began with honors to the President of the Republic and greetings from the huasos clubs, later, the Chief of the Forces, Division General, Cristian Vial, requested authorization to start the parade.
Officials from the State and the Armed Forces were present, such as the Commander in Chief of the Army, Javier Iturriaga del Campo, the Commander in Chief of the Air Force, Arturo Merino Núñez, the Minister of the Interior and Public Security, Carolina Tohá, the President of the Chamber of Deputies, Raúl Soto, and of the Senate, Álvaro Elizalde.
After the Military Parade, the President will go to Group 10 of the FACh, where he will board the plane that will take him to New York (United States) to participate in the 77th United Nations Assembly.
