Ante la suba de precios “debemos proteger a los sectores más vulnerables”

Given the rise in prices “we must protect the most vulnerable sectors”

This was considered by the deputy of the Colorado Party in the department of Colonia, Ms. Nibia Reisch.

Citizens legislators, together with Minister Adrián Peña, worked on a package of proposals aimed at alleviating the increase in prices as a result of the international situation.

The document with eight proposals, presented to President Luis Lacalle Pou, includes a reduction in VAT on basic products, salary recovery in the salary council, an increase in social allowances, an exceptional bonus for submerged pensions and the suggestion of carrying out a voluntary agreement between the main price fixers in the market, among other proposals.

They insist on the importance of the voluntary price agreement, something that the legislator Reisch had already raised in 2020 when the government applied it for six months in more than 80 products.

Another measure points to passivities. Ciudadanos considers that the 60,000 most submerged passivities in the country should have an exceptional bonus.

“They are the sector many times most forgotten and a response must be given,” said Reisch

Finally, extraordinary salary adjustments are proposed, considering that some sectors had outstanding economic performances being favored by the situation. In this sense, Ciudadanos proposes salary adjustments in advance.
