The body of the girl Raquel Antunes da Silva, 11 years old, will be buried at 2 pm on today (23) at the Catumbi cemetery, in downtown Rio. The teenager was sandwiched between a float from the Em Cima da Hora samba school and a pole, near the Sambódromo, in the last fourththursday (20th).
Raquel was hospitalized with serious leg injuries and underwent surgery, but ended up dying. yesterday at the Souza Aguiar Municipal Hospital.
After the accident, the Justice of Rio determined that all samba schools escort their floats from the Sambadrome to the barracks to prevent children and adolescents from accessing the vehicles.
The Civil Police said that it is continuing to investigate the circumstances of the case. Surveillance cameras in the region have already been collected and the site surveyed. It was also determined the seizure of the float.
Yesterday, via Twitter, the mayor of Rio de Janeiro, Eduardo Paes, offered solidarity to Raquel’s family members and said that he would closely monitor the police investigation that investigates the responsibilities. He also said that the Department of Social Assistance is giving support to family members.
