The general director of Carabineros, Ricardo Yanezreferred this Thursday to the declarations of the President Gabriel Boric, who on Tuesday affirmed that some state agents committed sexual abuse during the social outbreak. In this regard, Yáñez pointed out that “the investigations will determine said information.”
“I am not going to refer to resolutions that some courts or those that are in the investigative process may have taken, they will understand that they are part of the investigative processes of which I am a part and of which I have to resolve, I cannot refer to that “, he said when asked by the press.

Let us remember that the national prosecutor(s), Juan Agustin Melendez, pointed out yesterday that the Public Ministry registers 300 cases of sexual violence. In addition, he pointed out that there is a conviction for the moment.
Regarding the sentence, he stated that “it is a crime of sexual abuse in the context of the social outbreak, as recorded by the conviction of the courts and the conviction adopted by the Oral Criminal Trial Court of Arica, which is what determines the final legal qualification of the case.
New 18-O: decrease in disturbances
General Yáñez also made a balance for the new anniversary of the social outbreak. He stated that there was a decrease in disturbances compared to previous years.
“When one makes a balance, as the minister and the undersecretary said, the numbers do not lie and there was a considerable decrease compared to previous years,” he said.
“He says that our deployment was made in those places where it was necessary. Now, events are always going to happen, and we have to take care of them, we empathize with the people affected. But I want to say that our carabineros were on the ground, I was from very early with them,” he added.
