Gendarmerie confirmed admission of filmmaker convicted of abuse Nicolás López to Casablanca prison

Through a statement, the Gendarmerie reported the following: “Nicolás López Fernández entered the Casablanca Preventive Detention Center today, at 00:45 hours, according to the provisions of the Viña de Mar Oral Criminal Court.”

The institution added that, according to the health protocol, with each new admission to a prison, the filmmaker will be in preventive isolation and must quarantine for seven days.

It was added that “López is in good health, and his transfer from Santigo proceeded normally.”

It should be remembered that López was found guilty of two crimes of sexual abuse and sentenced to 5 years and one day in jail, for which his defense tried to manage measures so that the accused does not blame the prison sentence. His lawyer, Paula Vial, filed an amparo appeal so that the accused fulfilled his precautionary measure (pretrial detention) away from common criminals. Previously, the Court of Appeals of Valparaíso had rejected another amparo appeal, in this case, for his freedom.

But the Gendarmerie carried out a psychological examination on López, pointing out that his emotional picture does not require special treatment, therefore, he must go to module 12, a place where former uniformed personnel and people accused of crimes related to the social outbreak are found.
