The president of the Argentine Industrial Union (UIA), Daniel Funes de Rioja, highlighted the economic recovery on Tuesday and stated that the sector’s vision is “encouraging” regarding the measures that the Government will take after the appointment of Sergio Massa as Minister of Economy, Production and Agriculture.

“There is not the slightest doubt that the economic recovery, the reactivation of 2021 is marked, it has not been homogeneous because the effects of Covid-19 have not yet disappeared and have an impact on some activities; there is a spirit, and above all one sees it in the industry and inside, of wanting to go forward, what we really want is to be optimistic, “he said in dialogue with the online radio station FM Futurock.

He pointed out that “in general terms we are better than in 2018, 2019 and 2020, Let’s not forget that the drop in 2020 was 9.6% and the reactivation in 2021 was very strong, but in relation to 2020, 2019 and 2018, which were no longer the best years.

Regarding Massa’s appointment, he said: “we have expectations of a man who has a public function, has experience, has a relationship with the business sector, has a vision regarding private initiative and the rules of competition and that also understands the international mega or macro system within which we are inserted”.

“The issue of access to international organizations and the possibility of these contacts make it an absolute necessity not only that there be internal credibility but also external credibility, the two things that must exist in Argentina; hopefully the consolidation of the Government as the President pointed out yesterday, the unity of the Government, is shown,” he added.

He highlighted the need for “state policies, not policies for the coming months, but a set of State policies that have a horizon, that give predictability to investment, to growth”.

“There is no doubt that economic needs go through macroeconomic stabilization, fiscal order, a monetary policy that is reconciled with reasonable objectives and that is not the cause of inflation, and a clear, firm export policy,” he analyzed.

I affirm that “Argentina needs foreign exchange and the Argentine productive system is in a position, with predictability, to generate ityes.”

On the other hand, he maintained that “the month of August also comes with fewer problems of cold temperatures and therefore more foreign exchange available for the import of inputs that are necessary for industrial production,” and that “it also lowers a change to stress, therefore our vision is encouraging and hopefully it will be confirmed with tomorrow’s announcements”.

consulted On inflation, he spoke about the “uncertainty” generated by issues such as energy supply, the import of supplies and the rise in the cost of international logistics, and considered that “we must clearly attack the causes of inflation, we are the consequence of inflation.”

“When there is spiraling of inflationary indices, there are attitudes based on expectations, even without being perverse, because there are perverse attitudes that are clearly speculative, but there are others that are defensive,” he concluded.
