Mexico City, Mexico.-After spending a week fleeing from the police, the alleged murderer of the Cuban woman, Vanelys Macola Sierra he was caught by the police.
“An operation carried out by joint forces of the Ministry of the Interior in Sancti Spíritus allowed the arrest of this individual, who is already at the disposal of the competent bodies,” reported the provincial newspaper. Escambray.
The newspaper confirms that the femicide was arrested in Tuinucú, a town in the municipality of Taguasco, and is at the disposal of the authorities to be investigated and tried for the murder of the 37-year-old nurse.
“Liván Reinaldo Mora Pérez —alias El lento—, who evaded justice since February 28, when he allegedly murdered Vanelys Macola Sierra in Tuinucú, was arrested this Saturday morning,” they stated.

Liván Reinaldo Mora Pérez has multiple criminal records for the crimes of threats, injuries, theft, rape, robbery, among others.

Last Saturday, Mora killed Vanelis, when the victim was preparing to go out with her 10-year-old son to drop him off at school and later go to work. Eĺ intercepted her on the outskirts of the house, taking advantage of the fact that it was an inconspicuous path.
“He was hunting her and when he came out he went over to her. She told the boy to run and he took refuge in a nearby house. A neighbor tried to break in, but the killer threatened to cut him off. That same neighbor called the Police, but when they arrived he had already finished with her,” a cousin of the victim told CubaNet, who asked to protect her identity.
So far, in 13 of the 15 provinces of the country at least one femicide during 2023. Let there be news, Vanelis Macola is the first woman murdered in Sancti Spíritus this year and number 16 in the entire country.
