During this Friday, the National Emergency Office (Onemi) announced the cancellation of the red alert decreed in some communes of the Coquimbo region due to the activation of streams and flooding after the passage of the frontal system that affected the central zone of the country.
It should be noted that at noon Onemi herself had decreed a red alert for the communes of Coquimbo, La Serena, Vicuña and Paihuano, but “due to the weakening of the meteorological conditions that caused it” this measure was reversed.

Customers without electricity
For his part, the director of Onemi, Ricardo Bull, pointed out that there are still customers without electricity in their homes. “Nearly 40,000 customers are without electricity throughout the territory, with the most affected regions being Coquimbo, with more than 14,000 customers; the Metropolitan Region with 10,000 and Atacama with about three thousand affected customers,” held.
Meanwhile, there are still closed or restricted roads, such as the cases of the Chavas, Chacabuco and La Dormida slopes, next to the Juan Pablo road in Colina -closed-, which will be monitored during the day. Instead, the road to San José de Maipo continues with restricted access so that only residents can access and the road to Farellones is fully enabled.
The Los Libertadores Complex – uniting Chile with Argentina – will remain closed until the corresponding evaluation is carried out once the frontal system is finished.
