Judith Pena | December 22, 2022

The National Civil Protection System (SINAPROC) issued a prevention notice (surveillance and monitoring), due to the maximum tides that will occur in the Panamanian Pacific from December 23 to 28.

Sinaproc highlighted that the maximum tides will reach a height of 17.1 feet (5.21 meters) and will be recorded from 3:02 am on Friday, December 23, until 8:02 pm on Wednesday, December 28, 2022.

The National Emergency Operations Center (COEN) warns that if the maximum tide coincides with the rains, the levels of rivers and streams could increase, causing flooding in vulnerable areas.

Prevention measures:

• Avoid carrying out activities on the Pacific coast.

Artisanal fishermen must use navigation equipment and personal flotation devices (life jackets).
