Friedmann and Marly were provisionally dismissed

Senator Rodolfo Friedmann and his wife Marly Figueredo were provisionally dismissed from the case related to the alleged breach of trust during the acquisition of school snacks, when the now legislator was serving as governor of Guairá.

Friedmann is accused of alleged money laundering, aggravated passive bribery and criminal association, all as perpetrators.

The other defendants are; Silvio Alfaro Bertolo, Friedmann’s cousin, Lourdes González de Melgarejo, accountant for the company Eventos y Servicios SA, and Eduardo Domínguez, a former official of the Government of Guairá.

Prosecutor Victoria Acuña withdrew her accusation and requested a provisional dismissal for the defendants.

Now, José Agustín Delmás, judge of Economic Crimes, must resolve this request. If he does not agree, he could give him the opposition process.

It should be remembered that the defense attorneys had requested the annulment of the accusation and the definitive dismissal. However, they were not successful.

UNIT

At the end of August of last year, Rodolfo Friedmann and Horacio Cartes were shown together in a photograph. The meeting took place in the same residence of the former president. With this, the legislator made official his transition to Chartism.

This reconciliation, after years of confrontation, took place weeks before the municipal elections last year (October). The objective was that both sectors arrive together to have more chances of victories in the department of Guairá.

This decision by the prosecutor comes just eight months after the reconciliation between Friedmann and Cartes.

CHALLENGED PROSECUTORS

Before Victoria Acuña, the prosecutors in charge of the case were Osmar Legal and Luis Said, but both were challenged at the end of last March. Acuña held the position as interim.

The context is as follows; Friedmann, when he served as governor of Guairá, between 2013 and 2018, authorized a contract for the supply of goods with the ESSA SA company that Friedmann himself directed, according to information from the Prosecutor’s Office.
