He Free Nicaraguan Movement He sent a coordination proposal to opposition groups in Nicaragua to —according to what they say— unify forces to achieve democratization in the country.
“In essence, what we promote is to give a united face, before the people of Nicaragua and before the world, to the central ideas that should encourage the struggle for the liberation and democratization of our country at this time,” the document details. motion.

They assert that in order to achieve democracy in Nicaragua, it is first necessary to overthrow the current dictatorship, “and not only replace those who currently —Daniel Ortega and Rosario Murillo— usurp the head of the State, but also found a new system of government, a republic democratic”.
They add that in order to overthrow the Ortega regime and achieve democracy, it is necessary to “freely elect a Democratic Constituent Assembly, by geographical constituencies, not by parties, using the mechanisms that allow the broadest inclusion.”
The proposal of Free Nicaraguans is to create a draft Democratic Constitution whose content, as they sign, “will be based on fundamental principles, that is: how the democratic State will be constituted, how its leaders will be elected, what limited powers they will have, what control the citizens will have over them, so that they are servants, not pharaohs”.
“The project will be submitted to a popular referendum, so that it is, for the first time, the constitution of all,” adds the document sent to different opposition groups to the Daniel Ortega regime.

They also affirm that the objective in the unity proposal is to change the system of power. “We are going to replace the system of power that produces misery and dictatorship, to one that will be indisputably democratic, with rights for all, privileges for no one.”
On the other hand, the organization pointed out that the proposal “is not to form a guerrilla army or organize a civil war, but rather a broad political movement that achieves, through multiple forms of action, retake control of the country, overthrow the regime or any anti-democratic successor, plus constituent process to found a democratic republic».
“Political Struggle”
For the members of the Movement, their “fight is political”, with the objective of stopping the violence that is exercised against the population, “and overthrowing the dictatorship -of Daniel Ortega- before its actions cause outbreaks of armed violence , as history indicates is likely.
«No one can deny an individual or a people the right to self-defense, and precisely to prevent the brutality of the regime from continuing to fertilize the seeds of armed conflict with its abuses, we need to join forces to accelerate its overthrow; stop the regime’s violence against the people, preferably by non-violent means”, he stresses.
Among other things, Nicaraguenses Libres proposes that once the Ortega regime is overthrown, a short-lived transitional authority will have to assume the duty of initiating the transition to democracy, and the reintegration of Nicaragua into the civilized world.
This transitional authority —according to what they propose— will have as its fundamental task, apart from maintaining the basic functions of the State, to prepare, within a period of no more than 12 months, the installation of a democratically elected Constituent Assembly, by territorial constituency, to prepare, in a period of no more than 6 months, a draft Democratic Constitution that structures the new State.

Finally, they refer that the draft constitution will contemplate the demilitarization of the State, the dispersion of power among citizens, the effective separation of the powers of the State, “which will be defined as secular and open to the full range of diversity that arises naturally in the bosom of human society, strictly guided by respect for human rights.
“We make these proposals with a feeling of citizen fraternity, committed to the people and to our consciences, eager for history to be known that Nicaraguans learned to coordinate intelligently, with humility and generosity of spirit, when
saving our homeland was about it,” concluded the Free Nicaraguan Movement.
