The Plenary session of the Congress of the Republic will submit reconsideration of the vote that shielded the parliamentarian Freddy Diaz Monago (not grouped) so as not to be disabled by the alleged crime of rape to the detriment of a former employee of his congressional office. After completing the session of the Board of Spokespersons in the Grau Room, the president of the Legislature, José Williams, announced that the case will be submitted on the agenda for this Thursday, January 12.
The appeal against the investigated was presented by the parliamentarian Sigrid Bazán (Cambio Democrático) after Congress did not approve that Freddy Diaz be disqualified from Parliament with 60 votes in favor, 2 against and 21 abstentions.
In conversation with RPP, Díaz Monago justified his request before the Plenary of Congress. According to him, he said: “There is an investigation process to which we have agreed from the beginning. It is in the process of investigation, and that it be the Public Ministry that determines my responsibility -if it existed- “.

In parallel, this Thursday Judge Juan Carlos Checkley Soria scheduled a reserved hearing against the congressman starting at 12:30 p.m. The Second Supreme Criminal Prosecutor requested 9 months of preventive detention against the legislator for the crime of rape.
Before presenting the prison request, prosecutor Zoraida Ávalos set a period of 120 days as the deadline to complete the investigation. In the formalization of this case, the representative of the Prosecutor’s Office specified that in the process it will be possible to culminate with the transcription of the film records provided by the Legislature that help to clarify the facts surrounding the complaint that Díaz is facing.
