Franco Parisi's "Sunday 7" and the judicial scenarios that await him upon his arrival in Chile

After delaying his arrival in Chile, the presidential candidate Franco Parisi will arrive in the country around noon this Sunday, November 7, which was confirmed by the People’s Party (PDG), which announced that from Monday, the 8th, the standard-bearer will begin territorial deployment, with just two weeks to go before the election. The idea – they say – is that Parisi can visit at least 7 or 8 regions, with visits for the day and participation in local media.

Wednesday night, in a live Through social networks, the presidential standard-bearer detailed part of his proposals and at the end of his presentation he spoke of the reasons for delaying his return to Chile. In a limited way, Parisi gave signs that the reason was because he would be a father. “The candidate is more than a candidate, he is a person. And he has a family. And most likely, if we are the Government, there will be cars, there will be baby bottles … what happens is that they are not deadlines yet, so They are going to kill me … there are situations that are more complex in the family. A good understanding, few words. They are going to kill me, because there is a corresponding period … “, said the aspiring to La Moneda.

But what does Franco Parisi face upon his return to Chile? The PDG candidate has a measure of national roots in force for the non-payment of a millionaire sum of alimony to his children. So far, Parisi has tried to appeal to this measure on at least 5 occasions, not having good results, so it remains activated and, therefore, the debt continues in force and exceeds $ 200 million.

Lawyer Marisol Valladares, representative of Parisi’s ex-partner in the case, clarified that the candidate could face some problems upon his return. Although he pointed out that there are no restrictions on his entry, he did detail that “what cannot happen is that he later returns to the United States, if that is his intention, after the presidential elections in November.” The lawyer argued that this could be solved by paying the debt.

But it might not be the only thing. According to Valladares, “in a minute 2 complementary measures were decreed: a suspension of the driver’s license for two months, but -as he was out of the country- strictly speaking, he never made his driver’s license available to the administrator of the Family Courts. Therefore, one could understand that this period has not begun to be imputed because the driver’s license was never made available, as ordered by the court. ” The lawyer said that additionally “a withholding of taxes was decreed through the General Treasury of the Republic, which for the 2021 tax year was ordered, but that the Treasury did not report that a tax refund withholding had materialized” .

Asked about this scenario, the president of the People’s Party, Luis Moreno, said that “in entering, he has no problem. The arraigo is so that he cannot leave Chile and can attend a trial, but that is something he has We have to solve the ruling of the court to see who has the right of the parties. We are sure that the President will leave, so there would be no problem, because he would not have to leave. “

The PDG helmsman added that, regarding the campaign, they will try to focus on the proposals, not on fighting with the other candidates. “We are located in the center, we do not intend to take votes from anyone, they are purely citizen proposals. We always go for 50% of the people who do not vote,” he said.
