France confirms first case of monkeypox

The General Directorate of Health of France confirmed this Friday a first case of the so-called monkeypox in its territory, in a 29-year-old man who had not traveled in recent months to the countries where the virus circulates.

The man was hospitalized on suspicion of contagion, but given the absence of seriousness in his case, he was sent home, where he remains isolated, according to the authorities. that recommend that the quarantine last the three weeks that it takes approximately for the wounds it causes to disappear.

This is the first case confirmed by the health authorities in France, after the registration of several cases in Spain, the United Kingdom, Sweden, Italy and Portugal, but also in the United States and Canada. “The teams of Public Health France and the Paris region, in contact with the doctor who has treated this person, have opened an epidemiological investigation.
