Santo Domingo.- After referring this afternoon to “Operation Squid”, launched since Saturday night by the Public Ministry, the vice president of the party People’s Force (FP), Radhamés Jiménez Peña, said that this organization always adheres to the constitutional principles and precepts, which establish the monitoring of due process of law and the recognition of the universal principle of presumption of innocence.
The opposition leader issued his statements after the meeting of the Political Directorate of that party concluded this Monday afternoon, which was chaired by its leader and president, former Dominican president Leonel Fernández.
When questioned by journalists about the position of the FP regarding the so-called “Operation Squid”, Jiménez Peña pointed out that it is not only in this process that is underway, but in any judicial process that this organization appeals to due process.

In this sense, he maintained that the FP “is based on the constitutional principles that sustain the social and democratic state of law of the Dominican Republic”

Likewise, Jiménez Peña reported that the Political Directorate of the FP decided, in its meeting on Monday, to use the three modalities established by law for the selection of candidates for positions of popular election with a view to the general elections of 2024.
In that order, he announced that the Central Directorate will be called to a meeting, next Saturday, March 25, at 10:00 in the morning, in the Volleyball Pavilion of the Olympic Center.
After that meeting, he added, the FP Congress will be convened, which will make the final decision, always acting in accordance with the statutes of the opposition political organization.
Another issue addressed by the highest body of that party, was the deposit before the Central Electoral Board (JCE) the update of its register, with more than one million 500 thousand affiliates. This activity anticipated that it will be done next week.
