Fourth dose: Minsa prepares provision on which age groups will receive this reinforcement

The director of Immunizations of the Ministry of Health (Minsa), María Elena Martínez Barrera, indicated this Monday that between today and tomorrow a provision will be issued for the application of the fourth dose of the vaccine against COVID-19.

“These days the provision will be coming out. Between today and tomorrow the groups (ages) will be available”, Martínez pointed out in RPP. Furthermore, he emphasized that “this vaccination has to go little by little because this is evidenced by the studies”.

In February, the Minsa began applying a fourth dose, but only to cancer patients and bone marrow transplant patients.

The Government decided to give an additional 15 days – counted from April 1 – for workers who carry out face-to-face activities, both in the public and private sectors, to apply the third dose of the coronavirus vaccine.

This is established by Supreme Decree No. 030-2022-PCM published in “El Peruano”, which also indicates that this extension is unique and exceptional for people in face-to-face work modality.

In Peru, the application of the three doses of the vaccine against COVID-19 is mandatory for entry to public or private places, as well as to work centers.
