The governor of the state of Trujillo, Gerardo Márquez, referred this Monday to the procedure carried out by security officials when they obtained 15 tons of ferrous material from the “Los Chatarreros” gang, specifically in the Miranda municipality.

The Directorate of Strategic Investigations (DIE) of the Bolivarian National Police (PNB) together with the intelligence work of the Directorate of Citizen Security and Peace of the Trujillo state government managed to arrest four citizens who are members of a criminal gang dedicated to the commercialization , extraction and theft of ferrous material.
This was announced through a press release by the director of Citizen Security and Peace, Yelffry Adames, who explained that following instructions from the state governor Gerardo Márquez, together with the complaints of the Trujillo group, the rigorous investigations that allowed the capture of the alleged members of the Los Chatarreros gang in a procedure carried out in the La Cerca sector of the Agua Santa parish in the municipality of Miranda.
“Intelligence and field work was activated, achieving the capture of these four citizens in charge of a center called «Western Recycling», who sold strategic material. This time they acquired material (which was found in their facilities) from a concentrated animal feed company that would start its operations in the next few days, from which all its metallic structure and part of its production machinery were stolen, ”he explained. .
According to the police report, three cars, a motorcycle and approximately 15 tons of ferrous material containing parts and pieces stolen from the food company’s sheds were seized.
Adames pointed out that the procedure has already been placed at the order of the Public Prosecutor’s Office of the state of Trujillo to continue the investigations “whoever falls.”
It should be noted that Governor Gerardo Márquez, since his arrival in the executive, has waged a tireless fight against “the mafias” dedicated to the purchase and sale of scrap metal and strategic material, with the aim of preventing the illegal marketing or trafficking of these resources.
Security officials will continue investigations related to these criminal acts; so far there are eight detainees.

In another procedure carried out more than a month ago, the Bolivarian National Police arrested four citizens with an illegal load of this strategic material in the San Luis parish of the Valera municipality.
According to the police report, those arrested were identified as Mendoza J. (61), Villarreal (37), Laguna C. (37) and Mendoza J. (29), who, when verified by the Police Information System (Sipol) two of them had a criminal record.
A Chevrolet brand cargo vehicle, model NPR, in which the ferrous material was found, was seized from the detainees. The case was left to the order of the Criminal Court of First Instance of the state of Trujillo for the corresponding investigations.
