The former Minister of Justice Marcela Rios signed the lawyer and former senator Jose Antonio Viera-Gallo to represent her before the constitutional accusation against her. Chile Vamos presented the accusatory libel after the 13 pardons granted by the President gabriel boric -12 convicted in the context of the social outbreak and the ex-frontist Jorge Mateluna-.
Viera-Gallo, a historical figure of the ex-Concertación -was a deputy between 1990 and 1998, a senator between 1998 and 2006 and a government spokesman in the first government of Michelle Bachelet-, will defend Ríos -as revealed by Bio Bio Radio– before the opposition accusations. Chile Vamos presented the accusatory libel pointing to the “illegality” and “negligence” in the granting of pardons.

“Seven pardons were granted in violation of the law, that is, people who had a considerable record, who had committed serious crimes, were released, and the product was left exposed to the public,” said the deputy Andrew Longton (RN) on Monday, after Chile Vamos entered the constitutional accusation.
Longton also targeted prison benefits for inmates in the southern macrozone. In this regard, he indicated that they were granted “under extortion, threats, terrorist attacks, arson attacks on Gendarmerie officials and the civilian population.”
Let’s remember that louis castillo -one of the 13 pardoned- had other convictions on his record. In 2005 he was convicted twice for theft, in 2006 for less serious injuries and robbery with violence and in 2017 for surprise robbery.
The pardon of Castillo generated criticism from the opposition and triggered the resignation of the Minister of Justice, Marcela Riosand President Boric’s chief of staff, Matías Meza-Lopehandía. The resignations occurred on Saturday.
Replacing Ríos, the lawyer louis cordero assumed ownership of the Ministry of Justice.
