Former merchants from the Meiggs neighborhood cut off traffic on the Alameda and set up barricades to demand a business license

During this morning, dozens of people carried out disorders in the Alameda, precisely at the height of San Alfonso, to demand business licenses or work permits. Those who staged the demonstration were mainly former merchants from the Meiggs neighborhood known as the “blue awnings”.

Traffic was paralyzed in the place and barricades were made with the aim of resuming their work, after the plan of the government and the Municipality of Santiago that removed the blue awnings from the Meiggs neighborhood with the aim of recovering public spaces and dismantling illegal trade. .

The demonstrators made a call to the mayor Irací Hassler to hold a work table to meet their demands. The Prefecture of Police Public Order Control arrived at the place to put an end to the disorders, making use of the water launcher car.
