This afternoon the reading of the sentence to the former mayor of the city of Lambaré, Roberto Cárdenaswho faces a trial for the punishable act of breach of trust.
The Sentencing Court made up of judges Claudia Criscioni, Yolanda Morel and Cándida Fleitas resolved acquit the ex-communal chief of guilt and punishmentwhile the former director of Administration and Finance, Guido Salcedo, was sentenced to 3 years in prison.

Cárdenas and Salcedo had been indicted for alleged property damage as a consequence of diversion of funds from the retirement fund of the municipal officials of Lambaré. The prosecution requested a sentence of 8 and 9 years, respectively.
In her ruling, Judge Criscioni argued that the conduct “is not typical in terms of the punishable act of breach of trust”so it considers that there was no property damage to the municipal coffers.

The estimate made by the Public Ministry when formulating the accusation speaks of a patrimonial damage of G. 1,829 million after the alleged diversion of retirement funds.
