Former Governor of the BC advocates a comprehensive reform

The former governor of the Central Bank Guillermo Caram, although he considered it necessary to collect the Tax on the Transfer of Industrialized Goods and Services (ITEBIS) to digital platforms, understands that the most feasible thing is to carry out a comprehensive tax reform.
“The fiscal reform proposed by the monetary authorities is still necessary and timely, what has perhaps prevented it is that the political tension of 2020 is not the same as it is now,” he said, when interviewed on the Fuera de Record program produced by the journalist Elvis Lima for On Television.

Caram explained that the tax reform includes improvement of spending, reform of the same spending and improvement in taxes.

He believed that the Dominican economic system has proven to be strong and that the same is expected of the Government’s ability to react, because the economic situation is very complex and changing due to the behavior of international markets and the consequences left by the covid pandemic. -19. “I am opposed to tax patches being proposed outside of a comprehensive tax reform,” he said.
