With the structuring of the Project Factory of the National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES), the Brazilian Forest Service (SFB) began today (18) a public consultation on the public notice for the concession of the National Forest (Flona) of Balata-Tufari, in the municipalities of Canutama and Tapuá, both in the Amazon.
With six forest management units, totaling an area of 564 thousand hectares, the concession of Flona de Balata-Tufari will be the fourth initiative in Amazonas in 2022. Rosa and Gleba Castanho.
Open to all citizens, the public consultation regarding the proposal for a public notice for forest concessions will be available between August 18 and September 30, 2022. According to the BNDES, through the press office, until September 30, any Interested persons can consult documents, send questions and make suggestions about the project by e-mail [email protected].
The public notice provides for public hearings to be held to discuss the project on the 29th and 30th of this month, in the municipalities of Canutama and Labreia, respectively, in Amazonas. Hearings will begin at 2:00 pm and end at 5:30 pm.
The forest concession initiative is part of the Ministry of Economy’s Investment Partnership Program (PPI) and aims at the sustainable use of the forest, stimulating job creation and improving the quality of life of the populations living in the vicinity of these areas.
“Forest management adopts sustainable practices of low impact exploitation, with control for the natural regeneration of forests”, highlighted the BNDES. Concession contracts for forest management last for up to 40 years and value forest preservation as an economic activity and social development.
