The RCN news outlet reported that a total of four Colombians and one Venezuelan were captured in Colombia linked to the murder of prosecutor Marcelo Pecci, who was shot on a beach in that country during his honeymoon.
The same medium also details that the plan was conceived with the arrival of Marcelo Pecci in Colombia. On May 5, when the prosecutor was visiting Cartagena with his wife, five men and a woman met in Envigado to plan the murder.
The woman and a 23-year-old individual had the mission of reporting each of the movements of the newlyweds. They reported each of the pair’s stops.
Two Venezuelan men and a Colombian, a native of Cartagena, were responsible for the attack. The Venezuelans attacked the prosecutor, while the Colombian was in charge of the transport.
The person in charge of the operation went from Medellín to Santa Marta and from there by land to Cartagena, staying near where his accomplices stayed. At the reception he left the order to let the people in charge of following Pecci and his partner through.
After two days of monitoring, the Colombian in charge of transportation rented a mid-range vehicle to use it in the surroundings of the place where the attack would take place.
One day before the attack, two movements took place; The woman and the 23-year-old man stayed at the Decameron hotel paying the sum of 2.7 million Colombian pesos for two nights of accommodation (around G. 10 million). The goal was to be closer to the victims.
At the same time, the three men toured the hotel beaches to define the route to take and see the landing site. That previous day there was an exchange of more than 60 calls between the perpetrators of the crime.
On the day of the attack, work begins at 6 in the morning. The Venezuelans are going to rent the jet ski and tour the hotel’s beaches until they wait for information about the prosecutor’s whereabouts.
Around a quarter to 10, the woman and the 23-year-old report where Pecci was resting. In five minutes, the assassins arrive at the place, one descends and ends the life of the same.
They then flee the beach, return the jet ski and board the rental vehicle that was waiting for them. By public transport they went to Medellín (630 kilometers away and a 12-hour trip) where they remained hidden. The mastermind paid the gang US$120,000 for the attack (G. 825 million).
