The Brazilian police investigate the disappearance of five men who were traveling in a vehicle requested through a transportation application, including the driver, during the early hours of Saturday in Rio de Janeiro, official sources reported this Sunday.
The four passengers, who were between 21 and 28 years oldwere heading to a shopping center located in the Baixada Fluminense, in the metropolitan area of Rio de Janeiro, when they were approached by a group of armed hooded men, according to the Civil Police.
The Baixada Fluminense Homicide Department, one of the most deprived and dangerous regions near the capital of Fluminense, took charge of the case with the intention of “investigating and locating the victims.”
Relatives of the disappeared declared this Sunday in police station to give his version of what happened, according to local media.
Rio de Janeiro has suffered high rates of violence for years, fueled by conflicts between drug gangs and vigilante groups for control of various areas of what is the most touristic city in the country.
