From April 18 to 21, Panama will host the Latin American and Caribbean Aquaculture event (Lacqua 23), where it is expected to receive more than 2,000 visitors.
This annual conference, which is part of the World Aquaculture Society, is recognized among the most relevant, due to the exchange of knowledge, technology and innovation, as well as the formation of networks of aquaculture professionals in the continent.
In this event, in addition to Latin American experts, fish farmers from Asia and Europe will participate, addressing issues related to the application of high technology in the sector. The president of the Panamanian Association of Aquaculture Farmers (Aspac), Roberto Chamorro, stressed that they will also talk about incentives for marketing and own businesses, as well as those derived from the activity.
He said that they will have academic and technical sessions on topics such as aquaculture health, nutrition and food, genetics, production systems and innovation, as well as sessions focused on the cultivation of species such as shrimp, tilapia and marine fish, through the use of artificial intelligence, among others.
“One of the important topics is precision aquaculture, through the application of artificial intelligence. It is an extremely important advance for those of us dedicated to aquaculture production,” he said.
During the celebration of Lacqua 23, there will be a trade fair where more than 80 exhibition stands will be set up, from companies from Latin America, the United States, Europe, Africa and Asia; and it is expected that this fair will be visited by more than 2,000 participants, which also represents an important economic injection in terms of congress and convention tourism.
