Angel Valdes | January 11, 2023

24 hours have passed since the fire started in some warehouses in the Colon Free Zone where the firefighters are still fighting to put out the flames, there are units from Panama City and the Panama Canal Authority (ACP) that have joined the work since yesterday, Radio Panama correspondent Rolando López explained that The lack of water has been a major obstacle for the red shirts who have had to rely on reserve tanks and pumped seawater to work in the area.

The Institute of Aqueducts and Sewers (IDAAN) have sent seven tankers to supply water to the fire trucks so that they can continue fighting the fire that is confined to the warehouses and work has been done to prevent it from spreading to other sectors. More than 200 firefighters are still working at the moment in the affected area.

In addition, the main entrance route to Colón is obstructed by the work of the firefighters, which has created chaos to enter and leave the province, it was also reported that the doors of the Free Zone where there are no affectations, although they will open , it will be very irregular due to how difficult it is to access the province of Colón.
It is estimated that the losses are millionaires in these seven burned warehouses that have been completely consumed.
