Final details for the “VIII Continental Congress of Cooperative Law”

The Bicameral Commission of Social Economy (COBIES), chaired by deputy Edwin Reimer (ANR-Boquerón), coordinated a preparatory meeting, with a view to the development of the “VIII Continental Congress of Cooperative Law”, which will be held in our country, on October 27, 28, and 29. During this congress, as the main theme, “Cooperative law and post-pandemic cooperative identity” will be addressed.

The meeting was attended by Dr. Graciela Fernández, president of Cooperatives of the Americas; Dr. Dante Cracogna, president of the Cooperative Law Commission of the Cooperatives of the Americas; Simona Cavazzutti, president of the Confederation of Rural Cooperatives of Paraguay (Concopar Ltda.); among other authorities in the sector.

It was reported that the event will be coordinated by the Americas Regional International Cooperative Alliance (ACI Americas), anticipating the inauguration on October 27 at the Bourbon Hotel Conmebol Convention Center.

After the inauguration, the new authorities will be elected, to subsequently start the presentations called: Cooperative act and cooperative identity; Technology, democracy and cooperative government; Unemployment, decent work and worker cooperatives; The cooperative use of new energy sources; Innovation and new frontiers of the cooperative company; Realization of the principle of commitment to the community; Regulation and supervision of cooperatives; among others.

Let us remember that concomitant to the “VIII Continental Congress of Cooperative Law”, the “VI Regional Summit of Cooperatives of the Americas; and the Annual General Assembly of Cooperatives of the Americas, week of October 24 to 29, 2022”.

The central objective of these events is to strengthen relations between the parliaments of the Americas and the continental cooperative movement, through the exchange of information on the respective agendas, in order to promote the development of the cooperative sector.

Another purpose is to share documents, as well as experiences and initiatives that can be implemented and that benefit the cooperative sector in the different legislative instances.

Similarly, influence the policies of national, regional and local governments for the development of the cooperative sector; In addition to disseminating the legislative reforms that allow establishing an adequate legal framework for the development of cooperativism in each of the countries.
