A film producer denounced that the truckers who are mobilized in the north of the country are charging money to those who do not share their demands so that they can continue with their route, which they currently keep blocked.
As reported by La Tercera, the members of the production company accused that near kilometer 480 of Ruta 5 Norte the paralyzed truckers -in addition to blocking traffic- are charging money from trucks that do not share their slogans and even threaten to stone the vehicles. .
The director of the production company Parox, Gabriel Díaz, stated that “I am filming a series. Right now in the north of Chile and the truckers have just asked us for $300,000 so that the production trucks could pass through the highway. Carabineros was present and he didn’t stop it.”
“It’s something that happened on Route 5 last night. There was a change in the treatment during the day and at night. During the day, the trucks were able to pass, but at night the treatment had changed a lot. I came in a van ahead, but the production trucks that were behind were stopped,” Díaz added.
In fact, the filmmaker reveals that “a person from the production company had to get out to ‘negotiate’ with the truckers, who called themselves the ‘truckers’ union’ and who told him that the only way to get through was by paying in cash.” .
“As the person had no cash in his pocket and at the insistence of the truckers, they themselves suggested going to the Copec pump ATM, which was nearby. There was no alternative, because these people had to go to rest, spend the night in La Serena and then go back to work right there,” Díaz told the aforementioned outlet.
Regarding whether or not he will take legal action in this regard, the director of Parox stated that “I am not going to activate a case, but as a citizen I felt I had the right to denounce it, because it is worrying and violent.”
“Now, the people directly involved have all the evidence to do so, because there are many witnesses and there is even the camera of the bomb (Copec) that films how this person takes money from the ATM to deliver it to the truckers,” he said.
It should be remembered that since Monday the Fuerza Norte Confederation of Carriers began a strike in various areas, requesting greater security and help to pay the price of fuel. However, despite the government’s offers, the truckers will remain mobilized, which is why the Minister of the Interior, Carolina Tohá, announced that she will use the State Security Law.
