The Antecedent Employment Indicator (Iaemp), measured by the Getulio Vargas Foundation (FGV), rose by 1 point from May to June. With that, it registered the third consecutive high and reached 81.9 points, the highest level since November last year (83 points).
In quarterly moving averages, the Iaemp advanced 2.3 points and reached 80.8 points. The indicator seeks to anticipate trends in the labor market in the coming months, based on interviews with consumers and entrepreneurs in the industry and services.
Five of the seven components of the Iaemp contributed to the increase, with emphasis on the trend in the industry’s business. On the negative side, the main contribution came from the service business current situation indicator.
