Santo Domingo.- The president of the Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM) in the National District, Fellito Suberví, described as an unprecedented fact that a political organization and president of the Republic use their majority in the legislative and executive powers to strengthen the democratic system and the rights of the people to “banish the bad practices of old politics.”
Fellito explained that the government led by Luis Abinader “has added and normalized new values to the new Dominican political culture, among which transparency, honesty, accountability, the rational and democratic use of power, as well as the great value in listening and rectifying, as the president’s management with the PRM has done whenever the people have spoken to him.”
“Today the president has reiterated and demonstrated with actions that the interest that prevails in each decision is to protect the people and bring them well-being. It was clear that with the determination of this administration we have hunted down and banished the ghost of re-election beyond what the constitution that accompanies a current ruler allows. “Today their determination to banish bad practices from the old politics became concrete,” said the PRM leader in the capital.
Likewise, he assured: “President Abinader has established himself as a true statesman. History will remember him as the president who had everything and did everything to protect democracy and the rights of the people. “He is an example for all those who have thought about and want to be presidents.”
In that sense, he added that beyond wanting to use his popularity and majority to secure a mandate beyond the constitutional ones, the president has made it clear that his main objective is to govern by and for the people, that instead of hurting democracy his decision was to lead to strengthen it.
