Federico Guardia Conte water treatment plant recovers 100% of its operation

The Institute of National Aqueducts and Sewers of Panama (Idaan) reported this Tuesday that the repair and installation of the engine at the plant The Federico Guardia Conte water treatment plant in Chilibre have been completed and the process of recovering the supply of drinking water for the high points and those far from the network has begun.

“At this time we have already completed the process of installing the 2,000 HP engine, and our colleagues are making the final adjustments to it. Soon we will be starting the engine and the recovery process will begin in the system. This process depends a lot on the behavior of the demand, but normally it recovers in a period that can go from 24 hours to 72 hours”, indicated Iván Cano, Director of Operations of the Idaan.

The entity reported that from this moment the recovery of the drinking water supply begins progressively in the high points and away from the capital city and San Miguelito, which can last for several hours.

It should be noted that since last week the Idaan has been working on the installation of the engine and after completing it over the weekend they noticed a lubricant leaking from the engine shaft, so they proceeded to check and repair the damage, and before As a result, the drinking water production capacity of this water treatment plant was reduced to 90%.
