The Ministry of Regional Development authorized today (12) the transfer of more than R$ 319 thousand to Petrópolis, in the mountainous region of the state of Rio de Janeiro, for Civil Defense actions. The ordinance was published in today’s edition (12) of Official Diary of the Union.
The city was hit by storms in February and March this year, which left 241 dead and three missing. The February rains were considered the biggest natural disaster in the history of Petrópolis.
They caused more than 7,500 landslides. Data released yesterday (11) by the city of Petrópolis show that there are still 173 people in municipal shelters.
With the new resources, the total volume of federal transfers to the municipality has already totaled around R$ 7 million since February, according to information from the Ministry of Regional Development.
