Export of timber products grows in Bolivia

La Paz, Dec 17 (Prensa Latina) Exports of timber products in Bolivia until October 2021 grew 60.2 percent compared to the same period of the previous year, the Forestry Chamber of the Andean nation reported today.

Data published by the National Institute of Statistics show that foreign sales of these items represented an amount of 75.3 million dollars, while imports were 38.5 million dollars, so the trade balance was favorable.

The president of the Bolivian Forestry Chamber, Diego Justiniano, considered that the figures are signs that exports are recovering, after the elimination of internal bureaucratic obstacles and the introduction into new international markets, such as China, which positioned itself as the first client.

Among the products that contributed the highest income are semi-finished and manufactured products, such as floors and moldings, furniture, panels, doors, windows and sheets.

The main buyers were China, the United States, France, Chile, Uruguay, the Netherlands, Belgium, the United Kingdom, Germany and Argentina.

The first three countries accounted for 85.8 percent of total Bolivian exports of timber products.

Regarding purchases abroad, in the first 10 months of the year, the markets of Brazil, Argentina and China stood out, where mainly boards and furniture were acquired.
