Excellent step by Cuban baseball players Alfredo Despaigne and Raidel Martínez in Japan

Today, Wednesday, the Cubans Alfredo Despaigne and Raidel Martínez were determining figures in the victory of their respective teams in the Japanese Professional Baseball League.

Despaigne maintained his excellent offensive pace of recent days. He hit a two-run double in four at-bats, in addition to scoring once to lead the SoftBank Falcons to a 6-1 win over the Seibu Lions.

At the Pay Pay Dome in Fukuoka, the native of Granma, who has already accumulated four RBIs in his last three games, maintained his average at 261 and raised his total RBIs to 33.

For his part, right-hander Raidel Martínez scored his thirty-fourth save game of the year after allowing a no-run hit in a relief chapter, in the close 3-2 victory of the Chunichi Dragons over the DeNA Stars, in the Nagoya Vantelin Dome. Martinez lowered his ERA to 1.09.

In that same game, his compatriot and teammate, fellow reliever from Camagüey Yariel Rodríguez gave up a single and struck out an opponent to improve his ERA to 1.32.

For the Dragons, Villa Clara starter Dayán Viciedo went 2-3, with two singles and a walk, to raise his average to 289. Matanzas outfielder Ariel Martínez failed twice to drop to 283.
