Faced with the struggle within the Movement Toward Socialism (MAS) over the requests for a change in the cabinet of President Luis Arce, the head of that party, Evo Morales, affirmed this Sunday that when he was vice president, Álvaro García Linera, never blackmailed him or suggested ministers .

“I just want to tell you, to me, when Álvaro García Linera was vice president, he has never conditioned me, he has never blackmailed me or even suggested who is going to be minister, it is the responsibility of the President,” Morales said in his program on Radio Kawsachun Coca.

Before making this statement, Morales said that a few days before January 22, he hopes that the press “is not exaggerating” on the issue of changes in the ministries, since it is the responsibility of the President to “improve his cabinet.”

“Now that we are close to the day of the Plurinational State, I hope the press is not exaggerating: some want a ministry here, I repeat again, it is the constitutional responsibility to change and improve the cabinet of the plurinational president, Lucho Arce,” he said on the Los Angeles radio station. cocaleros.

He added that President Arce can “improve his cabinet” and if he decides not to do so, it is his decision and for this he will evaluate.

“You have to listen, for example, to some suggestions you can make,” said the former president.

In Morales’ opinion, now the right is using some “comrades” to divide the MAS, but the militants have to take into account that the renewal of a party comes automatically.

He assured that in a party renewal comes automatically and that happens when young people start their political life and they have to start by gaining the trust of the elders.

“Unfortunately that is the situation, they have to earn the affection. When the elders have affection, because they are humble, well respected, they grab it, I was 23 or 24 years old and I was already a base delegate, I did not have the main position, nor was it from the union, nor from the central, where they sent me to the negotiations, where I did not understand, I only listened when they talked about the three-year plan to eliminate the coca leaf plantations, surely they trusted me. So, you have to earn trust when they trust you, take care of you, support you,” he said.
