Eugenio Cedeño: “Unidad del PRM no está en juego”

Eugenio Cedeño: “PRM unity is not at stake”

The deputy for La Romana, Eugenio Cedeno, assured today that he will work hard for the Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM) regardless of whether the Executive commission has ratified the proposal to elect the authorities of said organization through an assembly of delegates.

When exhausting a shift in yesterday’s meeting before the members of the highest decision-making body of the party, the member of the National Statutory Reform Commission and candidate for the vice presidency of the PRM highlighted his commitment to fight in favor of pro-government militancy, party unity and repostulation of the President of the Republic, Louis Abinader.

“I want to present our position to this assembly, and tell it that regardless of what we approve here, whether it is approved with the assembly of delegates or with the modality that we are going to support, we will do the work and we will be in the streets, because unity of this party is not at stake”, he maintained, when proposing the modality of the universal vote of the bases.

In this sense, he pondered the unit as a single man who has the party entity and for which he must continue fighting.

Yesterday afternoon, the PRM National Committee ratified the resolution that establishes the assembly of delegates to elect the new authorities, as well as granting power to the electoral commission and the Executive Directorate to define the date on which the election of the new incumbents of the organization will be held.

It should be noted that the National Committee, as the highest governing body of the political force that it is and as established by the internal statutes, has the power to determine the selection methodology from among three modalities. In this case, he opted for the National Convention of Delegates (or assembly by delegates).

The other two modalities are the universal vote of the bases (free, direct and secret) and through the Assembly of Leaders.
