eroticism in park

The unusual sculpture, which was approved by the mayor of the municipality of Moche, Arturo Fernández, as a tribute to the distant ancestors of his people, showed a character proud of being endowed with a huge phallus, a symbol of virility and fertility.

Since the work was presented, Fernández received harsh attacks, especially with accusations of promoting pornography, accusations before which he alleged that the controversial monument not only highlighted the sexuality of the ancient inhabitants of the place, but that it would attract tourists interested in knowing so unusual figure.

Only a few days later, the effigy was destroyed by anonymous extreme conservatives, which seemed to put an end to the daring project, but Fernández did not give in to the hostility of his detractors.

So, he commissioned a new and colorful creation, just like the first, and giant reproductions of the so-called erotic huacos, ceramics in which the Moche left evidence of their sexuality and the resulting motherhood, and which can be seen in museums.

In this way, what began with a statue became a peculiar theme park, complemented by the flags of numerous countries that surely allude to the universality of the enjoyment of sex.

The site has become a great attraction for national and foreign visitors, and newlywed couples from the municipality and its surroundings who, after the wedding, are photographed in front of one of the sculptures, perhaps as a kabbalah and a tribute to passion.
