This Monday, the Copei Social Christian Party announced the death of Enrique Mendoza, leader of that political party.
Through its Twitter account, the political group expressed “From the Christian Democracy, we extend our heartfelt condolences for the departure of one of the greatest copeyanos that Venezuela has had, as was Enrique Mendoza. From this, his house, we pray for his soul, we ask for comfort for his relatives.
The former governor of Táchira, César Pérez Vivas, said that Mendoza had been suffering from leukemia for two months.
“The first hospitalization he had was due to Covid, but later in the evaluations they discovered a very aggressive leukemia that consumed his life in recent months,” he said in statements for Unión Radio.
On January 18, Mendoza reported on his Twitter account that after overcoming covid-19, he was receiving treatment to address “anomalies that the values presented” in the laboratory tests.
Mendoza was three times governor of the state of Miranda, councilor and twice mayor of the Sucre municipality.
He was also a deputy for that same entity before the National Assembly (2011-2016).
