End of fighting in Ukraine will be quick if US wants peace, says Lukashenko

Belarusian President Alexandr Lukashenko assured that the fighting in Ukraine will end quickly if the United States speaks for peace, but clarified that the probability of that happening is very low.

The president explained in an interview for the Japanese television station TBS broadcast by the Belarus 1 channel on YouTube that “the situation that is developing in Ukraine is very profitable for Americans.”

In his opinion, the clashes can stop if Russia and Ukraine sign an agreement, or if Washington gives an order to the Ukrainian leadership to stop military actions. He considered that if the White House does it, the European Union and other countries will support it.

According to Lukashenko, the Ukrainian military is being led by representatives of the West and the United States, who are in full control of kyiv’s response to Moscow.

“It is not Zelensky who is in charge of the whole process. It is not even the advisers who advise the military how to behave,” said the Belarusian head of state, adding that the Ukrainian leader receives instructions from US President Joe Biden and British Prime Minister Boris Johnson.

Lukashenko claimed that Western countries pushed the Ukrainian authorities to start a war, when it is clear that kyiv should not serve as a springboard for an attack on Russia.

He stated that Ukraine should not have nuclear weapons, just as it should not threaten Russia or prohibit its inhabitants from speaking in any language because many Russians live in the country.

“No one should offend anyone. And in no way should Nazism flourish there, so that it does not become the fascism that we lived in the middle of the last century, ”he pointed out.

The Belarusian president clarified that his country maintains a neutral position on the events in Ukraine. “The fact that we are in talks is a confirmation of our position. We are not going to get involved in this war, I have repeatedly declared it,” he said.

He stressed that Belarus will not condemn the positions of Russia or Ukraine. “We must commit to stop the war and start building warm and friendly relations,” she emphasized. (Source:PL)
