Embassy of Venezuela criticized deportation of US migrants without notice

The Embassy of Venezuela in the United States spoke about the deportation of Venezuelans to Colombia, highlighting that in at no time was he consulted about this nor has he authorized deportations except for “few criminal cases.”

The diplomatic representation of Juan Guaidó recalled that Venezuela is experiencing a serious humanitarian situation which obliges the international community to provide protection to refugees and migrants through asylum applications, which would not have been guaranteed to Venezuelans.

Given this, it is requested that the United States government be reminded that normative justification for which Venezuelans were deported (Title 42) is pointed out by the United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR) as a law “incompatible with international standards and may constitute a return.

“Our firm call is to allow Venezuelan migrants can submit their asylum applicationthat it be evaluated in accordance with the established procedures, and accordingly a final decision is made”, asks the Embassy.

The diplomatic representation concluded by saying that greater restrictions on Venezuelans will deepen the crisis and increase the “illegal businesses such as human trafficking and smuggling.”
