Although the process of the duplicate must be carried out by the holder of the document, this may be done in person, at any of the agencies of the National Registry of Identity and Civil Status (Reniec)or through the website authorized by the registry entity.
VIRTUAL PROCESS

If you choose data validation, you will be asked to enter your personal data, which will be verified online. In the case of facial verification, you will have to take a photograph using your cell phone and it will be validated by the app BioFacial IDwhich you need to download from the Google Play Store.
In either case, after making your choice, you must click on the orange button that says “continue”.
If you chose data validation you will have to enter your personal data, the data of your parents (names) and your place of birthas they appear registered in your last DNIe, and then you must click on “validate data”.
Then you must complete the contact information (mobile phone and email) and delivery. By default, the application will show you the Reniec offices closest to your home district, but if you require other alternatives, you can select the option “select Reniec office by geographical location”.
As a next step, you must complete the data related to the means of payment. For this case you can use the platform pay it.pe (Visa or Mastercard) or you can also do it at the Banco de la Nación or at the Banco de Crédito. The fee for obtaining a duplicate of your DNIe is S/35.00.
Finally, with these data entered, you will be asked to confirm your request and on the date indicated you will be able to go to the Reniec office you chose to deliver your document.
In case you choose face verificationyou must also complete –as in data validation– all the information requested, contact and delivery data, as well as the means of payment and, finally, the confirmation of your procedure.
You must know that the delivery of the duplicate of the DNIe is personal because a biometric reader will be used to validate your identity through your fingerprint and because you must sign the cancellation request forms and/or the new natural person digital certificate (allows identity verification).
