The Electric Union of Cuba (UNE) announced for this Sunday a deficit in generation capacity of 14% in the hours of greatest consumption and a maximum affectation of 450 MW during daytime hours.
In its daily report, the company indicates that the service remained affected during the early hours of Sunday and that the deficit continued throughout the day, producing blackouts throughout the territory.
The estimated maximum demand for the day is 2,900 MW and the availability is 2,602 MW. For peak hours the deficit will be 368 MW, according to the UNE statement.
At this time, nine units of various thermoelectric plants are reported out of service due to breakdowns, while one that is undergoing maintenance is in the process of being started up.
The Cuban government acknowledged in sessions of Parliament the discomfort caused in the population by the prolonged power outages, which have been intensifying in recent months, the most intense of the summer.
