Electoral Tribunal launches design of the new personal identity card

The magistrates of the Plenary of the Electoral Tribunal (TE), presented the morning of this Wednesday, January 4, the new identity card, which would replace the current one, allowing it to be used as a kind of ‘digital wallet’, by public and private institutions, according to indicated the presiding magistrate of the TE, Alfredo Juncá.

During the act, magistrate Luis Alfonso Guerra detailed the investment that the TE will make for the implementation of the new documents and the costs of the duplicate, which has been proposed to be $35.00.

Guerra explained that for this process there will be an investment of 7 million dollars that are payable in six years.

He stressed that the youth identity card and the cards for permanent residents will also change and revealed how the new identity card will work for people with disabilities.

Among the new features that the new personal identity document will have are: a logo that identifies organ donors, a double QR code, one with information or personal data and the other with biometric data. It will also have a code associated with international civil aviation standards and other features.
