The Electoral Justice received at least 28,000 candidacy registrations for the October elections. The deadline for receiving records ended at 19:00.
The data were updated at 19:21 and are available on the DivulgaCand platform, managed by the Superior Electoral Court (TSE). The numbers are not yet consolidated and may be updated again.
With the end of the term, 12 registrations of candidates for the Presidency were received; vice president (12); governor (223); lieutenant governor (223); senator (231); 1st Alternate Senator (232); 2nd alternate senator (233); Federal Deputy (10,258); State Representative (16,161) and District Representative (591).
After the candidates are approved in the party conventions, the application for registration of candidacy in the Electoral Justice is a formality to verify if the candidates have any legal restrictions and if they can run for the election.
Upon receipt of the applications, the application requests will be published by the court. Then, a period of five days will be opened so that candidates and opposing parties and the Electoral Public Ministry (MPE) can challenge the requests.
The next step will be the judgment of the record by the minister who was drawn to report the process, which should be judged by September 12.
Candidates do not need to have their registrations approved to start the election campaign, which starts tomorrow (16).
The first round will be held on October 2, when voters go to the polls to elect the President of the Republic, governors, senators, federal, state and district deputies. An eventual second round for the presidential race and the state governments will be on October 30th.
