“Electoral” bans will be in effect for up to one week

The National Police reported through statement 02 – 2021, what will be the limitations and prohibitions that will govern in the country, with a view to voting scheduled to take place this Sunday, November 7, beginning at six in the afternoon on Friday, November 5, concluding, in some cases, five days later.

The first of those detailed in the statement, comes into effect at eight in the morning on Saturday, and prohibits circulating in the vicinity of the so-called ‘Computer Centers’, both at the national level, located at the headquarters of the Supreme Electoral Council, in Metrocentro, as well as at the departmental and municipal level.

In the case of the department of Managua, these are located in the Nicaraguan Institute of Sports (IND), the National University of Engineering (UNI), the National Autonomous University of Nicaragua (UNAN – Managua), the ‘Maestro Gabriel’ School, and the National Agrarian University (UNA).

In parallel, the police entity, sanctioned by the United States Government on March 5, 2020, in retaliation for “Being responsible or complicit, or having participated directly or indirectly in serious human rights abuses in Nicaragua”, detailed the list of prohibitions that will govern this long weekend, indicating the schedules that will affect each one.

The first is to carry firearms, sharps and ammunition, for a full week (from six in the afternoon on Friday 5, until the same time on Friday, November 12), perhaps in anticipation of the possibility that There are protests when the announced fraud is confirmed.

The authorities of the National Police, the Nicaraguan Army, and the National Penitentiary System, in the exercise of their functions, are excepted from this prohibition.

It is also prohibited to move, transport, distribute and manipulate toxic and explosive chemical substances, whether industrial or artisanal, from six in the afternoon on Saturday, until noon on Tuesday, November 9, except for fuels and cooking gas, whenever do “duly authorized companies and persons.”

The prohibition of selling alcoholic beverages – be it in supermarkets, grocery stores, bars, convenience stores, liquor stores, entertainment centers, restaurants and the like, in addition to the simple public thoroughfare – is in force from two in the afternoon on Saturday, until midnight. six in the morning of Tuesday the ninth of November.
