Next Sunday (2), Brazilians eligible to vote will go to the polls to choose representatives of the Executive Power at the federal and state levels, as well as members of the Chamber of Deputies, Senate, state assemblies and the Legislative Chamber of the Federal District (DF) .
According to the Superior Electoral Court (TSE), knowing the order in which the votes will be registered in the electronic ballot box is important to avoid confusion or even the annulment of the vote.
THE resolution that has on the general acts of the 2022 elections establishes that the vote must obey the following order: federal deputy; state (or district, in the case of the DF) deputy; senator; governor; and President of the Republic.
The order, according to the Court, cannot be changed. This means that, to vote for a candidate for president, for example, you must have already voted for all previous positions.
Glue
The TSE itself suggests that voters bring a list with the numbers of the chosen candidates already written in the order in which they will be typed in the ballot box.
“The voter must carefully read the position that is being nominated for voting on the electronic voting machine screen. This is because if a wrong number is entered – for example, the number of a state deputy in the field intended for federal deputy – the ballot box will understand that the person wants to annul the vote”.
Simulator
The court prepared a voting simulator for those who want to be well trained when registering votes in the ballot box.
The tool is available at site of the TSE and can be used as many times as the voter wants. “It only serves to educate the voter and has no ability to register votes”, reinforced the Court.
Conference
In this year’s election, voters will have extra time to check the vote in the electronic ballot box. According to the TSE, for the first time, the equipment will release the vote confirmation (on the green Confirm button) after 1 second of filling in the candidate numbers for each position.
“For each of the five confirmations of vote, the ballot box will emit a short sound. In the end, after choosing the candidate for president, the device will emit the classic sound, but for a longer period”, the court said. The purpose of the extra time is to stimulate the verification of the vote and prevent the voter from confirming the vote without being sure that he typed it correctly.
